Message from the Cardinal

The Catholic Development Fund is built around the simple philosophy that we all benefit through the pooling of Church funds rather than depositing directly with the banking system. The CDF pays a competitive rate of interest on deposits and uses these funds to provide loans for the building of schools, Parish churches and facilities, hospitals and aged care on favourable and competitive terms.  The surpluses generated by the CDF are retained within church - without the CDF, these surpluses would have been retained by the banks as profits for their shareholders.

Without the contribution from the CDF, agencies such as Parish Support, Office of Aged Care Administration, Adult Education, Liturgical Commission, Justice and Peace Office, Catholic Youth Services, Ecumenical Commission and Catholic Communications would not be able to deliver the services that they do today.

The CDF has, since its inception, delivered a range of cost effective and efficient products and services that are relevant to its client base and is committed to updating its services using the latest technology. This website aims to provide a new level of service to our Clergy, Parishes, Schools, Catholic Agencies and Congregations, indeed all the CDF’s valued clients, who continue to support this worthy mission.

Sincerely in Christ,

+ Cardinal George Pell, Archbishop of Sydney
